Ventilating Cut-Buffing Wheel SB-4 Impregnated
Sisal-Cotton Ventilating
Ø 350 mm - 450 mm
Sisal-Cotton Ventilating Cut-Buffing Wheel SB-4
SB-4 ventilating wheels are universal tools for effective cut-buffing of steel and non-ferrous metals. Compared to the abrasivness of pure sisal buffs, SB-4 discs have a cotton inlay. The fabric mix makes the discs less aggressive, allowing a smooth cut-buffing of all steels and non-ferrous metals. SB-4 polishing discs provide matt to silky glossy surfaces, which are often further processed without further surface finishing.
Product Features
- Four ventilating layers of cotton covered sisal fabric, both materials with a 45° biased weave
- Steel ring centre, fixed on resin reinforced cardboard core with hardened safety staples
- Calibrated for low-vibration concentricity
- Diameters 350 - 500 mm
- Configurable bore Holes 32 - 60 mm
Impregnation
The EICKELIT impregnation system allows an individual optimization of the service life, aggressiveness and absorption capacity of grinding and polishing pastes.
Please use the following table to select the most suitable impregnation for your application:
Sisal
Sisal is obtained from specific agave species in global cultivation areas. Similar to other natural fibers, sisal fibers are very resistant to physical and chemical stresses. In addition, sisal is very tough, has high tensile strength and is also characterized by its high rigidity. This is why sisal is particularly suitable for polishing and coarse cut-buffing of metals and especially steel.
Sisal-Cotton Composite
Our sisal-cotton composites consist of sisal fabric with a dense, diagonally biased plain weave. The sisal fabric is covered on both sides with light raw cotton fabric and stitched together with fine cotton threads at a seam distance of approx. 10 mm. The resulting firm sisal-cotton composite material is then further processed into the variants of the EICKELIT SB-X cut-buffing tools.
Dimensions
- * Observe safety regulations for the minimum diameter of drive shafts!
Bore Holes
- We manufacture your desired bore individually for you. We cover every known bore diameter for industrial polishing machines *
- If you need other bore diameters or special adapters (e.g. for hexagonal shafts, with keyways, etc.), we will be happy to manufacture them on request **
* Polishing discs drilled individually at the customer's request are excluded from exchange or return in accordance with our Terms of Cancellation.
** Observe safety regulations for the minimum diameter of drive shafts!
Areas of Application
- Fine grinding / cut buffing of all non-ferrous metals, steel and inox
- Machine preparation of steel for galvanic surface refinement
- Mechanical surface treatment of machine knives and precision parts
- For cut buffing with SB-4 buffing discs, we recommend medium to strong-cut polishing compounds with approx. Grit 240 for non-ferrous metals and approx. Grit 280 for steel / Inox
- Cutting speeds approx. 25-45 m / s

General Information on Polishing
- Please follow our link for general tips and advice on polishing
Protective Equipment when Polishing
When grinding and polishing, the work equipment used creates considerable health risks. It is therefore compulsory to wear suitable personal protective equipment for work safety when grinding and polishing. In particular, all rotating polishing and brushing tools may only be operated with suitable covers for reasons of occupational safety.
Wear eye / face protection
The fine dust emanating from polishing is harmful to the eyes. Flying parts can cause serious injuries to the face and eyes.
Wear respiratory protection
Fine dust contaminated with heavy metals and respirable, which can only be retained with suitable respiratory protection, is produced during polishing.
Wear protective clothing
Flying parts can cause sensitive injuries all over the body.
Wear gloves
In general, gloves should be worn when grinding and polishing. If there is a risk of being wound up (e.g. drills, processing small parts, etc.), gloves may be prohibited on the basis of a risk assessment.
Wear ear protection
Due to the noise exposure during grinding and polishing, it is necessary to wear suitable hearing protection on a regular basis.
