Si-W-PK pre-polishing discs are made of 12 firmly bonded layers of sisal fabric biased 45° against the weaving direction. Due to the very firm quilting of the plies, Si/W/PLK sisal fabric discs are suitable for pre-polishing all metal surfaces and especially for stainless steel. Pre-polishing with SI-W-PK produces a silky-matt surface, which can then be optimally processed in the subsequent finishing processes.

Application

Sisal is a natural fiber raw material that is produced from special agave species in tropical and subtropical cultivation areas. Like other natural fibers, sisal fibers are highly resistant to physical and chemical influences. As a fiber, sisal is extremely tough, tensile and comparatively stiff. That's why polishing tools made of sisal raw material are particularly suitable for the high demands that are typical when pre-polishing metals and especially steel.

Areas of application

Fine grinding / pre-polishing of all metals: aluminium, brass, iron, stainless steel
Sisal fabric has slightly abrasive properties corresponding to approx. grit 280-320. Depending on the pre-polishing paste used the result is matt to satin-matt surfaces
Due to their perfect concentricity, polishing discs with a diameter of up to 200 mm are particularly suitable for manual use with straight grinders, angle grinders or flexible shafts. Larger diameters should only be used on the polishing stand
For pre-polishing with SI-W-PK, we recommend the use of special solid pastes for pre-polishing, grain sizes of approx. grit 240 (non-ferrous metals) and approx. grit 280 (steel / stainless steel)
Sisal fabric pre-polishing discs are operated optimally at cutting speeds of approx. 25-40 m/s

Dressing of sisal polishing tools

Prerequisite for an optimal polishing result is the careful preparation of your polishing tool. Therefore, please follow the recommendations for preparing sisal polishing tools
Used sisal polishing discs should also be cleaned and dressed regularly. This applies above all if residues of polishing paste have solidified or the pre-polishing discs are heavily contaminated with material abrasion.
